Who We Are‎ > ‎

Goals

·   Help each young man discover and develop who he is; and understand that who he is is unique. These are young Black men with individual attributes that make them both similar and different.

·   Share the powerful and rich history of Black influences in not only Africa or America but around the World.

·   Build up the self-esteem of each young man.

·   Make our members aware of the achievement gaps that currently exist.

·   Through discussion and interaction with fellow member, mentors and various other means, provides members with the realization that working together in brotherhood will change lives to varying degrees and will eventually change the world.

·   Address challenges and seek solutions.

·   Improve educational achievement [self-esteem, relationships and self-awareness are extremely important, the statistics reveal that gaps( academic as well as employment)  tie into education.  Lower educational achievement equates to lower income and higher risk to become involved in nonproductive activities. While, whites are still paid more than comparably qualified blacks, there is reason to believe that if the majority of blacks were to achieve stronger educations and demonstrate the drive for success, perceptions would change and the gap in comparable pay would narrow especially in an America becoming more diverse culturally and racially].

·   Live as role models for other students and indirectly change negative stereotypes.

·   Reach out to and support younger students.

·   Reach out to and encourage other cultural groups – minority and majority.

·   Meet regularly to follow a curriculum that leads naturally into meaningful discussions on whatever is most pertinent to our guys

·   Have fun together, building relationships and quality of life

·   Meet regularly to study

·   Support the understanding that there are many people outside the Black community who very much want to see our members succeed

·   Share secrets to success academically and vocationally, including how to prepare for college and what scholarships are available.

·   Share about becoming men who respect women and others.

·   Prepare to be good fathers if that is a desire someday.

·   Encourage more Black males to enter the field of education
